Grief and Loss
There are many types of grief and loss we can experience in our lifetime. The death of a loved one, loss of a relationship, changing jobs, and loss of financial security are some. Others include the loss of our identity, loss of purpose, and loss of ability or functioning. Adjusting to a new city, culture, or trying to make new friends can also mean grieving the loss of a life we used to have.
In order to be our best selves, we need to successfully grieve these losses and create new meaning in our lives. However, certain things get in the way of being able to grieve. These “stuck points” can include anger and resentment, guilt, and difficulty or reluctance in talking about the loss. For those who are grieving a painful loss and feel overwhelmed with where to start, your search for a therapist is a great step. Call me today so we can discuss how therapy can help you grieve so you can live the life you want to live.
