Grief and Loss

There are many types of grief and loss we can experience as humans. The death of a loved one, loss of a relationship, job loss, and loss of financial security are some. Others include the loss of our identity, loss of purpose, and loss of ability or functioning. Adjusting to a new city, culture, or trying to make new friends can also mean grieving the loss of a life we used to have.

In order to be our best selves, we need to successfully grieve these losses and create new meaning in our lives. However, certain things get in the way of being able to grieve. These “stuck points” can include anger and resentment, guilt, difficulty or reluctance in talking about the loss, and repeating unhealthy patterns in our lives. For those who are grieving a painful loss and feel overwhelmed with where to start, your search for a therapist is a great step. Call me today so we can discuss how therapy can help you grieve so you can achieve your goals.
